Save Money, Go Green! A Quick and Easy Homemade Window Cleaner Using 3 Everyday Ingredients

Have you ever thought about how much money you spend in a year on cleaning products? Have you ever paid attention to what is in your cleaning products and considered how those chemicals effect the environment and the air you breathe inside your home? You can make small changes around your home to reduce your cleaning product spending and promote a healthier environment and a healthier home, starting with a quick, easy, green homemade window cleaner!

Save Money, Go Green: A Quick & Easy Homemade Window Cleaner Using 3 Everyday Ingredients by Modello Maid Services Atlanta
To make a really easy, environmentally friendly window cleaner that works just as well as a name brand cleaner and saves you money, you only need three everyday items:
  • 1 or 2 Lemons
  • Vinegar
  • & Water
Squeeze the juice from your lemon or lemons and pour the squeezed juice into an empty spray bottle (you could also use limes instead of lemons which have the same citric content without the seeds). Next, fill the bottle halfway with vinegar, then fill the rest of the bottle with water. Lightly shake to mix the contents up well and you have made a homemade, green window cleaner that has a fresh, citrus scent!

It is so easy to make and it will probably take you longer to squeeze the lemon or limes than anything else! Just think about how much money this fast and easy trick will save you over the course of a year, not to mention the positive effects it will have on your home and the environment!

Another environmentally friendly tip for cleaning windows and glass: save your newspapers and tear our pages of the newspaper to clean with instead of using paper towels. Not only are you using less paper, but the newspaper will not leave small pieces of lint-like paper behind!

Don't have the time to clean?

Modello Maid Services in Atlanta is dedicated to providing stellar maid services that surpass customer expectations without breaking the bank. Give us a call today for a FREE consultation! We can provide cleaning and maid services as little or as often as desired, so call for your helping hand today!

Assign Storage Spaces for Items around Your Home to Reduce Clutter

Everyone in the household should work together to reduce clutter, and getting organized is half of the battle. By assigning storage spaces for different items, everything can have a place. Here are a few clutter reducing tips to help organize your home.

Keys, Cellphones, and Miscellaneous Items

Assign a place for your keys and other loose items that are likely to be in your hand upon entering your home. Maybe you have a drawer or shelf near your doorway that can be used to place and store items, or you could use a decorative bowl or basket. Not only will items like keys and cellphones be out of sight, but they are less likely to be misplaced.

Shoes

Create a place for shoes right by the door and you will eliminate the clutter of shoes around the home and reduce the amount of dirt being tracked around. Large baskets are nice for storing shoes, or you could use a small cabinet or even install a shoe rack.

Mail

Pick one place to store all of the household mail. Choosing a drawer in a desk or cabinet somewhere is better because not seeing the mail is an easy way to eliminate the eye sore. Once an area is assigned, always carry the mail to its right spot and avoid placing it on the counter, kitchen table, coffee table, et cetera.

Personal Items & Storage

Each person in the household should have their own space to store miscellaneous personal belongings. Decorative storage boxes and other closed containers are best so that the contents are hidden from the eye, keeping areas looking tidy and organized. All personal items should be returned to their storage container when not in use, and everyone should be allowed to place things belonging to each person in his or her personal storage container.
