Assign Storage Spaces for Items around Your Home to Reduce Clutter

Everyone in the household should work together to reduce clutter, and getting organized is half of the battle. By assigning storage spaces for different items, everything can have a place. Here are a few clutter reducing tips to help organize your home.

Keys, Cellphones, and Miscellaneous Items

Assign a place for your keys and other loose items that are likely to be in your hand upon entering your home. Maybe you have a drawer or shelf near your doorway that can be used to place and store items, or you could use a decorative bowl or basket. Not only will items like keys and cellphones be out of sight, but they are less likely to be misplaced.

Shoes

Create a place for shoes right by the door and you will eliminate the clutter of shoes around the home and reduce the amount of dirt being tracked around. Large baskets are nice for storing shoes, or you could use a small cabinet or even install a shoe rack.

Mail

Pick one place to store all of the household mail. Choosing a drawer in a desk or cabinet somewhere is better because not seeing the mail is an easy way to eliminate the eye sore. Once an area is assigned, always carry the mail to its right spot and avoid placing it on the counter, kitchen table, coffee table, et cetera.

Personal Items & Storage

Each person in the household should have their own space to store miscellaneous personal belongings. Decorative storage boxes and other closed containers are best so that the contents are hidden from the eye, keeping areas looking tidy and organized. All personal items should be returned to their storage container when not in use, and everyone should be allowed to place things belonging to each person in his or her personal storage container.

  1. Hey there! It was very well said. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about this. I'll be looking forward for your other posts as well. You have such a very informative post. Anyway, in addition to what you have written, a janitorial business lacks glamour and may seem "mundane", but it has proven to be a lucrative business for those who start the business with strong attitude and the will to work hard. While maid services typically clean households, janitorial services clean commercial buildings such as businesses, hospitals, schools, retail stores, warehouses, manufacturing facilities and even parking lots. We achieve results through our people. We thoroughly train each employee, set high standards, and provide the equipment, supplies coaching, and recognition they need. janitorial services MA
